Human Rights Violations

In the Middle East, the rights of religious minorities are infringed upon all too often. In Egypt, young women have been kidnapped and rapped in an effort to shame and convert them. Egypt’s national identification card also requires identification of an individual’s religious status.
Building churches is typically restricted, under the Hamayouni Decree in Egypt and Joint Ministerial Decree 1/2006 in Indonesia, and churches have even been burned in some instances.
